Peake
Located at the southeastern corner of the Sta. Rita Hills mountain range, Peake presents some of the most unique topography and soil composition within the appellation for our desires. A steep ridge that emerges from the midst of the mountain traverses through the center of the vineyard cascading down with various angles to the blocks below. Rhône varieties are all planted on the southern-facing slopes of this ridge, giving them the warm sunlight they need to achieve ripeness in this cool-climate region. The soils are mostly clay with a mixture of fine sand and large shale rocks that contribute dense, powerful and spicy concentrated flavors.

“The 2020 Terre et Sang “Leave It To the Birds” is also brilliant, with beautiful ripe red and black berry fruits as well as peppery herbes de Provence and spicy nuances. Medium to full-bodied, it’s a ripe, powerful Grenache that stays balanced, has fine tannins, and a gorgeous finish. The blend is an 80/20 split of Grenache and Syrah, all from the Peake Ranch Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills.” (8/29/2022)
